Michelle grew up in the Northern suburbs in Cape Town and is a writer at Women’s Health South Africa. She has been working there for over a year and is mostly involved with the writing of the health and fitness content. She loves her job as it naturally entails living a healthy lifestyle. You would often see her spending her weekends socialising by climbing a mountain instead of lazing around indoors.
Michelle and her colleagues recently took part in the Women’s Health challenge to get fit and healthy in just three months and her results were incredible! She tried her hand at adult gymnastics at gymwizards with her ultimate goal being able to do a flick flack. The challenge was that they had to prove that fitness can change not just your body, but your life. Read her story here and vote for her to win and you can win a 12 week slim down fitness plan!
The fitness activities I most enjoy would be boxing, yoga and swimming. They all have different functions so it’s great to mix things up while getting a therapeutic workout in at the same time.
I thought we should turn the tables on Michelle and interview her for a change.
Fria’s superfoods: As a writer at Women’s Healthy you get to try out so many different sports. Tell me which three were your favourite so far?
Michelle: The fitness activities I most enjoy would be boxing, yoga and swimming. They all have different functions so it’s great to mix things up while getting a therapeutic workout in at the same time.
Fria’s superfoods: We all have that one food that we can’t resist when we are supposed to be eating well. What is your downfall?
Michelle: I have a wicked salty tooth, and I really love carbohydrates, but I also find myself craving creamy, chocolately gooey things.
Fria’s superfoods: Are you a night owl or early riser?
Michelle: Night owl – I can never wake up early. I just can’t stand it.
Fria’s superfoods: I once went to a spinning class wearing my tights inside out. Of course I only realised it afterwards! Tell me about something embarrassing that happened to you while training?
One time I fell off my treadmill. It was the worst.
Michelle: Mmm… One time I fell off my treadmill. It was the worst.
Fria’s superfoods: We all have that one superpower that we are secretly proud of. What is yours?
Michelle: I think my superpower would be the ability to make tasty dishes with whatever’s lying around the kitchen.
Fria’s superfoods: Who is your secret woman crush (now it will not be a secret anymore)
Michelle: Shay Mitchell!!!! She works out like a demon and is seriously beautiful and funny.
Fria’s superfoods: Who is your secret man crush?
Michelle: At the moment I have a big crush on Leon Bridges. He’s an American soul singer who’s also a fabulous dancer.
Fria’s superfoods: Can you please share a healthy recipe with us?
Michelle: Mmm… Ok my favourite at the moment is pesto pasta with pan-seared tomatoes.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME AN AMBASSADOR FOR FRIA’S SUPERFOODS?
I love the treats – they’re guilt-free and really innovative. It’s great to be part of a local brand that cares about the food they create and can come up with really cute treats!
