Why is 2017 in such a hurry?
I don’t know about you, but I have barely registered that we are already two months into the year, when, oops, February just flashed by in the blink of an eye. It’s a short month, but really, what is up with time these days? I just never seem to have enough!
Not that I am complaining too much, because March signals that we are getting close to those well-deserved public holidays.
I already feel like I need a two week holiday, and the general consensus among my peers is that this year is indeed now too long.
Most of my peers do not have kids, but the level of exhaustion we feel when Friday comes around is real. The time that kids would have taken up is not wasted on us, oh no. It is now shared between substitute kids (you know, the four-legged kind), trying to keep the house livable (have you noticed that our generation only employs a domestic worker once, maybe twice a week? The rest of the time is a help-yourself-situation.), trying to feed yourself healthy meals, sourcing the products to buy the healthy meals, juggling multiple jobs, training enough so that it actually makes a difference and then having enough time left to enjoy this thing called life. That is after you subtract the time that you need to just lie on the couch, or catch up on some much needed sleep!
I think that is why I am still content being childless. If I had to throw a child into that picture, what would have to give? Well, according to hilarious blog writer of hurrah for gin, Katie Kirby, everything! It is quite normal for her to not wash her hair for ten days.
So, I thought for this month’s special I will help you guys out with time. The time it would have taken to bake your child a cake, or create something healthy for you to eat, or to go to the shops for a healthy alternative and walk out with a sugar-filled doughnut because there is nothing.
